Christine Douglas first worked as an Associate Director at The Opera Studio in 2013, on our ‘Making a Scene’ Project. Our company of singers were engaged and delighted by her energetic and positive approach to bringing their scenes to life in an imaginative and meaningful way.  Christine’s professional experience as a performer and director was evident in the confidence and skills she instilled in our Studio singers to be courageous, clear and committed in their story-telling.”

Singing Lessons

These singing lessons are for those who want a thorough grounding in classical technique.

Having learnt my technique throughout my career, I have a unique, empathetic understanding of singers who feel confused by conflicting opinions and instructions they’ve received over time.

Emphasis is placed on understanding the physiology of voice production, on mastering pure Italian vowels, on enhancing natural, reliable breath flow and singing with an open pharyngeal space.

$110 per 60 min — Melbourne CBD
$110 per 60 min — Zoom
$100 per 60 min — Daylesford

TESTIMONIALS

What Students Are Saying

“Christine, you're such a perceptive teacher! You've quickly identified the vocal habits that were holding me back and rather than simply correcting them, you've taught me to identify these issues for myself and guided me through the process of rebuilding a healthier technique. I have never felt so vocally free in my life. A true testament to a great teacher.”
Taryn
Soprano
“Christine's intuitive, empathic, nurturing, dynamic and detailed approach to singing tuition has utterly transformed both my vocal technique. Christine brings a wealth of performing experience, stage skills, technical skills, dramatic understanding, energy and great passion to everything she does - I can't recommend her highly enough.”
Julia
Soprano
Christine has taught me more in 18 months than I learned in 7 years of vocal sessions (including a bachelors degree in Opera). Initially training as a Mezzo (thinking that I didn't have top notes), to now confidently popping out top B's here there any everywhere, I can safely say that Christine has provided the pivoting technique to get to where I am today. I can't thank you enough."

Dramatic Coaching

Whether you have undertaken private study or have graduated from a Tertiary Institution, it is likely that the percentage of time you have spent studying stagecraft is relatively small.

As an emerging artist, you will be expected to arrive at your first job with the fundamental skills under your belt. These include stagecraft, spacial awareness and the ability to craft a character.

My stagecraft sessions focus on developing these fundamentals so you prepared and in control on your first day of rehearsals.

1 x 60 min session — $120
3 x 60 min sessions — $330

Thank you for your obvious kind and caring commitment, and for your enthusiastic approach to coaching so many students to perform at the level they did at the Final Gala Concert. I thought your Music Theatre Chorus was just amazing. Slick and spectacular.

"How on earth does one begin to express thanks for the incredible support, guidance and wisdom that you have so generously afforded so many people. You have not only given me wonderful experiences but also the encouragement, courage and support to see them through and to get the best from these experiences and from myself.”

"I want to thank you for being my mentor the last 3 years. I started out as a complete beginner and now I have just sung my first title role! I cannot thank you enough for your guidance, from silly things like what to wear to the important ones like how to deal with industry professionals. Due to all this, I am now confident and excited to continue my journey in London!"

My Philosophy

“In order for drama and music to be full partners in operatic performance, singers must have a working understanding of how their bodies communicate and are perceived on stage.

I believe in training young artists to be just as articulate in their physical characterisations as they are in musical and vocal capacities. Spatial awareness, physical coordination & body confidence are critical in communicating effectively with an audience.”
